Taking stock
I needed to wash my bike pants and for that I needed a day off the bike. So I decided to stay in Tours another night and catch up on some "home" duties. Updated the blog, backed up the photos, Skyped the BOSS and caught up on emails and work.
During the afternoon I walked into the city to see what Tours had to offer. I got some brochures from the Tourist off ice but they were altogether too wordy and not enough photos or maps and directions. I headed down to the river but there was not much there. The entire main boulevard was a construction site and there seemed to be very little in the way of signposts.
When I finally found the "historical" centre it was just a square of old buildings with overpriced restaurants, gelato bars and souvenir shops surrounding a square of tables and chairs - but no "free" seats for the sightseer to rest her weary legs. I went to the supermarket, stocked up on food for dinner (salad) and went back to the hotel satisfied that I had seen everything that the city had to offer.
Tours is missable.
