How's the weather
Headed south today up to the weather station. The road was lovely and twisty but the surface was shocking. The boys took off at a cracking pace - as motorcyclists do and I didn't bother to try and keep up. They kindly waited for me at the corners and probably bitched and moaned about how slow I was but had the grace not to do it in my earshot.
We stopped for coffee at a gorgeous little café perched on the edge of a cliff and then continued up the mountain to the weather station. What a view! Just stunning. Had a good look around and then rocketed down the other side of the hill. This road was excellent and dreadful in even lengths. They seem to only tar alternate sections of road and those that had been completed were wonderful to ride on. I should have stopped and taken some photos but I was rather conscious of "holding up" the boys.
We bought the fixings for a picnic and had it on the side of the road in a lovely little rest stop beside the river. After that they pretty much headed straight for home again along the main roads. It's not my style of riding and I was quite pleased when they ditched me and bolted. I had a chance to relax and enjoy myself.
I trundled up the secondary road over the top of the mountain pass, stopping to take photos and when I got stuck behind two logging trucks, I just pulled over and had a coffee. It was a superb afternoon and although the road surface was total rubbish, it wound its way through beautiful forests and mountains looking down on tiny stone villages clinging to the cliffs.
Although I've had a fantastic time over the last few days, it's time for me to resume my own pace, me thinks.
