Now I remember why I hate Youth Hostels.
At 6am, someone's alarm went off. They then proceeded to giggle their way through the early morning disregarding the sleeping habits of the other 12 occupants of the room. And just when you think they have finally packed up their last crinkly plastic bag and departed - they come back in again and take photos - with the flash. And then leave the door wide open!
However, once I had woken, consumed three coffees and checked out the weather situation, I was very glad to be indoors - no matter how bloody noisy.
Andermatt was covered in a thick pea soup fog which did not look like it was going to lift anytime soon. I decided a non-riding day was on order so I set off to explore the town. This took about 35 minutes walking very slowly. Not much to Andermatt. 400 hotels and 3 houses.
I managed to find a physiotherapist though (desperately need one) but they were closed - it's Saturday. Found a hairdresser too (more urgent than the physio) but they were also closed - it's Saturday. I found a bank. One task accomplished.
I enquired at a few hotels the price of a single room - 85Fr (AUD$84).
I'll stick with the YHA and use earplugs.
I whiled away the day playing on the internet and checking the weather every five minutes. I could not see the house across the street until four o'clock in the afternoon. At least it was quiet as all the previous guests had departed and the new arrivals didn't turn up till 6pm.
