Bright sunny day and I'm feeling slightly better so I headed over to Alton to hear the talks from Horizons Unlimited members. I decided not to camp as it may aggravate my throat, so I dropped into the campsite late afternoon and met the small crowd.

I spent the first hour or so chatting to Belle and Nads who had just returned from their overland scooter journey to Mongolia a few days earlier. I think I may have just met my scootering soulmates!! They were SO interesting and totally in tune with my style of travelling. We just yakked and yakked and yakked.

At dinner time we headed down to the Golf Club which laid on a great Indian meal for us and then Tim Cullis gave a talk on motorcycling in Morocco, followed by Belle and Nads talking about their Mongolian trip. I was just mesmerized. The photos were amazing and the experiences were truly wonderful. Why didn't I meet these two ladies a year ago and then I could have been bashing my way through the Stans instead of swanning around the Alps... oh actually - I take that back... I wouldn't have swapped swanning around the Alps for anything in the world - but you get what I mean.

We made plans to meet up in 2013 and do a Postie Bike ride around Oz.

I had to leave shortly after the talks ended as I needed to get to Naomi's place. I wished I was camping out with these guys as we could have continued talking all night! Again I feel ripped off that this bug has robbed me of great experiences.

I rode in pitch blackness through dark country lanes and it was then that I realised that my night vision was cactus. I haven't ridden in the dark at all on this trip but for some reason I was having real trouble seeing the road and staying balanced in the dark. It was a very very slow trip and it was close to midnight when I reached Naomi's.
