Mountains and Valleys
The following morning we reluctantly left Andermatt, our hostess kindly calling ahead to book the youth hostel in Liechtenstein. We conquered the final pass in Switzerland (this time round) which was the Oberalppass. This was quite tame compared to yesterdays ride and it ended up with most of the day spent riding down a valley, on straight boring roads through charming little villages. We stopped for lunch at one of the last villages before we crossed into Liechtenstein. We spent the last of our Swiss franks on some traditional Swiss cakes, not realising that Liechtenstein also uses Swiss franks.
We pulled into Vaduz, the capital, and discovering that the youth hostel had paid internet at 12Francs per hour, we enquired once again at the Information Centre about hotels with free wireless internet. The guy looked at me blankly as if wireless had not yet reached his tiny country. We wandered down the main street which seemed to be fuller than usual with tourists, until we discovered that there was a music festival on that weekend. We would be lucky to get any accommodation, we couldn't afford to be picky about wireless - So We willingly accepted our dorm room in the youth hostel. We ventured out for dinner and found a nice pub with a nice beer garden. We had a fabulous meal and then discovered this nice little pub also had free wireless internet. So we finished our dessert and spent the rest of the evening enjoying their hospitality.
