This Perfect Day
The sun was shining and the sky was a clear blue but we couldn't see the Alps.
We drove down the valley to Schaffhausen and the Rheinfalls. The falls were impressive but the most incongruous creature was in the carpark - a camel !!! No idea what it was doing there but we thought it was hilarious.
We drove on to Stein am Rhein - another charming little village with painted houses - and had lunch. We headed south to Klausenpass and drove up a long valley avoiding the cows on the road.
Little villages with painted houses don't impress me much anymore but the Swiss mountain passes still take my breath away. The ride over Klausenpass took about 2 hours and every second of it was incredible. Every bend reveals a new and more stunning view and I could never get tired of its magnificence.
