Six Passes

Cortina D'Ampezzo, Veneto, Italy
Monday, July 16, 2012

1. Giau
2. Fedaia
3. Sella
4. Gardena
5. Valparola
6. Falzarego

It's a great loop and although only about 160kms, it took all day.

Giau pass has 27!!! hairpins so Henry has become quite good at them and only ever falls out of a corner when distracted by a great view.

The sun was shining and we had crystal clear vision of the mountains all around. Although the valleys were a gorgeous 25o the tops of the passes were freezing and thank goodness for heated grips.

The wonderful thing about the Dolomites is that none of the roads are major routes so the only people on them have come on purpose to ride them - either bicycle or motorbike. Very few cars and no campers or trucks. The surface on all the Dolomite roads is mostly perfect  - very few are sub standard and I haven't come across one yet that is gravel patch repaired (like the French ones).

Yet another glorious day in paradise.
